Ten quantitative aptitude questions, each marked as you answer.

  1. A rectangular plot has a perimeter of 118 m and a length of 52 m. What is its area?
    Question 1
    Answer and working

    Answer A

    Length + breadth = 118 ÷ 2 = 59, so breadth = 7 m. Area = 52 × 7 = 364 m².

  2. What is the circumference of a circle of radius 28 cm? (Take π = 22/7.)
    Question 2
    Answer and working

    Answer C

    Circumference = 2πr = 2 × 22/7 × 28 = 176 cm.

  3. A cylinder has radius 7 cm and height 10 cm. What is its volume? (π = 22/7)
    Question 3
    Answer and working

    Answer D

    Volume = πr²h = 22/7 × 7² × 10 = 1,540 cm³.

  4. A cylinder has radius 14 cm and height 19 cm. What is its volume? (π = 22/7)
    Question 4
    Answer and working

    Answer C

    Volume = πr²h = 22/7 × 14² × 19 = 11,704 cm³.

  5. The diagonal of a square is 34 cm. What is its area?
    Question 5
    Answer and working

    Answer C

    Area of a square = diagonal² ÷ 2 = 1156 ÷ 2 = 578 cm².

  6. A box measures 12 cm × 4 cm × 10 cm. What is its volume?
    Question 6
    Answer and working

    Answer C

    Volume = l × b × h = 12 × 4 × 10 = 480 cm³.

  7. The two sides containing the right angle of a triangle are 12 cm and 16 cm. What is its area?
    Question 7
    Answer and working

    Answer A

    Area = ½ × 12 × 16 = 96 cm².

  8. The two sides containing the right angle of a triangle are 8 cm and 15 cm. What is its hypotenuse?
    Question 8
    Answer and working

    Answer B

    Hypotenuse = √(8² + 15²) = √289 = 17 cm.

  9. What is the circumference of a circle of radius 42 cm? (Take π = 22/7.)
    Question 9
    Answer and working

    Answer D

    Circumference = 2πr = 2 × 22/7 × 42 = 264 cm.

  10. A cylinder has radius 7 cm and height 17 cm. What is its volume? (π = 22/7)
    Question 10
    Answer and working

    Answer B

    Volume = πr²h = 22/7 × 7² × 17 = 2,618 cm³.
